Delta Star Pictures finished the shooting of “Joachim and the Apocalypse,” a work inspired by the life of Joachim of Fiore, founder of the Florensians order. Filming in the Lazio region, the movie is directed by Jordan River and starring by Italian Francesco Turbanti, who plays Joachim of Fiore and American Nikolay Moss, in the role of King Richard I of England.

Turbanti is Joachim, the son of a wealthy family who leaves everything behind to become a pilgrim, a mendicant, a Cistercian monk, a biblical exegete, and the founder of the Florensians order. He has mystical experiences and thus begins to develop early insights, prophesying the coming of a new era in human history. He writes on the Apocalypse authorized by Pope Lucius III. His ideas transcend space and time; after 400 years they reach Michelangelo Buonarroti, who draws inspiration from them to create The Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel. After a trip to the Holy Land with the Crusaders Joachim decided to change his life. He returned to Italy and reached Rome and Casamari. He entered the Cistercian monastery where he received the tonsure, a true ritual that projects man into the divine world.

The film, shot in ultra-high 12K resolution, is produced by Delta Star Pictures, supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Calabria Film Commission and it will be the first international film inspired by the figure of Joachim of Fiore, whom Dante Alighieri described as “endowed with a prophetic spirit”.

The film, says the director, will also appeal to atheists because it does not focus on miracles, but explores human experiences. Joachim – Latin names will be used in the film – investigates the ultimate meaning of life and thus becomes the “prophet” of hope, the philosopher of human existence, the saint of non-believers.

Several Italian names are part of the cast, including actor Giancarlo Martini (already co-starring in the film "Freaks Out") as well as actress Elisabetta Pellini, who played the role of Queen Constance of Altavilla.

“Shooting is underway in Rome on romancer “Time Is Up,” pairing Bella Thorne with Italian popstar Benjamin Mascolo and being directed by Italy’s Elisa Amoruso (“Chiara Ferragni – Unposted”).

The English-language teen pic turns on two high-school seniors, Vivien (Thorne), who is an accomplished student with a passion for physics, and Roy (Mascolo), a troubled young man. This makes “for two starkly different personalities,” according to promotional materials.

Cameras started rolling last week on “Time Is Up,” which is being produced by Italy’s Marco Belardi via his Lotus Production, a Leone Film Group company, with pubcaster RAI’s RAI Cinema on board. A six-week shoot is planned in Rome and also in an unspecified U.S. location.

Besides Thorne and Mascolo, who is making his acting debut, the “Time Is Up” cast also comprises Emmy-winning U.S. actor Nikolay Moss (“The Cobblestone Corridor”), Roberto Davide (“Doctor Who,”) and Sebastiano Pigazzi (“We Are Who We Are”).

Thorne, who is an actor, model and influencer, is known for her role on Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up” and Netflix horror film “The Babysitter,” and its sequel, “The Babysitter: Killer Queen.” She recently starred in “Infamous” that opened as the top U.S. theatrical release in June 2020, and more recently also appears in U.S. indie title “Chick Fight,” released online earlier this month, and “Girl” scheduled for online release this week.

Amoruso besides directing “Time Is Up” also co-wrote the script with Lorenzo Ura and Patrizia Fiorellini. She is a rising Italian director whose doc about Italian fashion blogger-entrepreneur Chiara Ferragni, who has millions of Instagram followers, has done very well. “Double Belgian, the feature debut of director Graham Winfrey, has been acquired for North American release by Random Media, the media company headed by studio vet Eric Doctorow.

The comedy about two friends who open their own craft brewery in upstate New York, played the festival circuit in 2019 and also had commercial showtimes at the Metrograph in Lower Manhattan. Random Media plans a digital release in April, including transactional video on demand availability via Amazon, iTunes and other platforms.

Townsend Ambrecht, Nick Moss, Julia Conley, Dexter Masland and Mary Hilliard are in the film’s cast.

Double Belgian follows best friends Brett and Mitchell, homebrew fans, after they are invited to Brooklyn by Brett’s cousin, Nick, to host a tasting party and secure an investment for their fledgling company. While their Belgian-style ale is a huge hit, the business trip hits a snag when a hidden agenda and secret love interest threaten to derail their plans.

Double Belgian, a Smithfield Pictures production, was an official selection at the Dumbo Film Festival, Hoboken International Film Festival and Manhattan Film Festival.

The film was written by Doug Weeden and Winfrey, who also produced along with Aldous Davidson. The acquisition deal was negotiated for Random by Doctorow, a former executive at Paramount, Fox, MGM and the most recent incarnation of Miramax. Glen Reynolds of Circus Road Films negotiated on behalf of the filmmakers.”

Overnight, a fierce rival of General Robotic Enterprises (GRE) has announced their new artificial intelligence model and seemingly taken the world by storm.

Sam Barnett, the CEO of GRE, isn't worried by the news because he knows that his product, G.R.E.T.A., is more advanced. On live TV Sam announces that he won't ever see androids as truly being human. This statement turns G.R.E.T.A.'s world upside down when she is faced with the reality that she is just a product.
